May/June 2008, another week in paradise at Kona Village in Hawaii.

Starting out the day with the paper and hot chocolate…

And moving on to one of the highlights of the trip: fishing in the lagoon.  Joseph was as usual very enthusiastic about fishing, and won two of the three fishing contests.  This picture was taken right outside of our hale (which is sort of like a raised hut).

Every day involved some ice cream:

We really enjoyed kayaking.  By the end of the week, Joseph was able to ride in the back and steer the boat.

Joseph did lots of kids’ activities, including learning the ukulele and making poi balls with neighbor hale friends, Tristan and Remmi.

Joseph went on to perform his poi ball routine again this year in front of several hundred people at a luau.

This year Joseph decided to learn tennis, taking lessons each day.  He did very well & had a great time.

Whew!  It sure was hot though!

With tennis teacher Elly:

Bananas and story time in the bath before bed (it is vacation, after all!):

Enjoying the local gardens:

Football in the pool.  It is just sports, sports, sports when Joseph is around!

Our hale:

Resting on the beach:

Another new addition this year: surfing!

And what could be better than to return home to a very missed dad/husband!  Our return flight came into CA a little late, so Bob drove down to S.F. to pick us up.
